Chef/Owner James Neunzig brings to J.P. Gifford Catering and Events a combination of twenty years of culinary experience and a deep respect for customer service and hospitality. James grew up working and learning in the finest restaurants north of Philadelphia. Following his graduation from the Culinary Institute of America in 1991, James resided in Connecticut, cooking at The Mayflower Inn in Washington and the West Street Grill in Litchfield. He then returned to his home state of Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management while teaching cooking and being employed as the Restaurant School’s Purchasing Agent.

After graduation, he moved to Connecticut and ran the Bistro Café in New Milford before opening his own restaurant in Kent. Restaurant Moosilauke rose to quick acclaim and received an “Excellent” rating from The New York Times, a Three Star Rating from Connecticut Magazine, was voted “best new restaurant” in Litchfield County, and was featured in The Litchfield County Times and The Morning News. James sold the restaurant in the spring of 2006 to create J.P. Gifford Catering and Events.

If you dined at his restaurant or were a guest at his catered events, then you have already tasted his passion for incredible food, experienced his commitment to impeccable service and appreciated his unique eye for detail.
